Another week, another recipe! Sesame ginger sauce is a staple in my house. You can toss it on anything from salads, stir fry, burgers, and beyond.
It’s hard to believe I’ve been working at my new job for almost two months. I’m still adjusting to everything, but am feeling more at home each day. It’s hard not to feel super intimidated and not very smart some days, but there are other days where I feel confident in my ability to add value to the team. With time, I think I’ll be able to feel like the later on most days!
In the meantime, I’m very thankful that life has lent me some downtime as I still feel like I am doing a poor job of keeping up. I at least have my ducks lined up enough to bring salads for lunch during the week, and my sesame ginger sauce is a life saver!
My boyfriend and I mutually agree that tofu steaks with veggies, brown rice, and sesame ginger sauce makes ???? one of the tastiest, easiest, and healthiest weeknight dinners. It’s filling, packed with protein, and super flavorful!
Sesame ginger sauce is just the best. Dip some sushi in it! ???? Pour it on top of a burger! ???? Need a new salad dressing? ???? Try sesame ginger sauce. What about a stir fry sauce? ???? Make a pizza ???? with it and some Asian-inspired toppings! You can do anything with sesame ginger sauce!
The Process
One of the things I want to start doing is share the process of how my food comes together and I’m off to a great start by leaving out the key component in this beautiful spread of ingredients, don’t you think? ????I know no one would notice if I didn’t point it out, but just so you’re aware, the “ginger” in ginger sesame sauce is missing in the photograph of all the ingredients.
Pictured is a bunch of yummy things - sesame seeds, hot chili oil, tahini, sugar, lime juice, rice wine vinegar, garlic, soy sauce, and not so yummy cornstarch. Not pictured ingredients include minced ginger (doh!) and water.
Preparing the sauce only takes 7-10 minutes. First, pour sesame seeds into a sauce pan and toast for a few minutes. You’ll need to keep an eye on these to ensure they don’t burn. That can happen quickly if you’re not paying attention!
While the sesame seeds toast, whisk the cornstarch in some water and set aside. It’s important to do this because otherwise the cornstarch will clump together if you add it straight to the mixture. When the seeds are nice and toasty, bring to a boil all the ingredients and add the cornstarch mix. Boil for five minutes and let cool and that’s it!

How Can i make a oil-free version of this?
Hi James,
Instead of using hot chili oil, toss in 1 tsp chili flakes. Then the recipe will be oil-free 🙂
